Our History

During the era of the Maharaja of Kutch’s administration, the family firm M/s Jeshang Champshi participated in the region’s established trading and commercial system.

The Firm

  • Participated in regional auction and trade activities.
  • Was authorized to collect customs duties across designated regional trade routes and submit collections to the state treasury.
  • Participated in trade connecting Western India with markets across Iran and Iraq, reflecting Kutch’s historic position within regional Gulf trade networks.

Legacy Built:

These activities established a strong foundation of commercial knowledge, regulatory understanding, and relationships that would continue to influence the family’s business journey.

The family’s involvement in maritime commerce extended beyond trading activities, creating a strong connection with sailing vessels and regional maritime trade routes.

Family-Owned Sailing Vessels

  • Fateh Salamat
  • Ratan Prasad
  • Moti Prasad

These vessels formed part of a broader commercial ecosystem connecting Kutch with regional maritime trade routes.

Commodity Trade:
The family also held a significant position in the district’s trade of commodities such as dates (khajoor) and chickpeas (channa), including the primary import license for these commodities in Kutch prior to subsequent changes in India’s import regulatory framework.

As India’s trade and logistics landscape evolved, the family’s experience continued to pass from one generation to the next.

Over the decades, this created practical knowledge across:

  • Regional trade networks
  • Cargo movement
  • Commercial negotiations
  • Port and transportation dynamics
  • Customer and business relationships
  • Regulatory and trade practices

Foundation for the Future:

The knowledge developed through generations of commercial activity became the foundation for a modern approach to shipping and logistics.

The evolution of this long-standing relationship with trade and maritime commerce ultimately led to the establishment of NAVICON SHIPPING and LOGISTICS in Mundra.

At the helm of this transition are Ashok Shah and Deesha Shah, bringing together two complementary dimensions of the family’s commercial legacy — generations of practical trade experience and modern regulatory expertise.

Their complementary experience forms the foundation of NAVICON’s approach to modern shipping and logistics — combining the commercial wisdom and institutional knowledge developed over 124 years with contemporary customs, regulatory, and logistics expertise.

Today, NAVICON serves importers, exporters, traders, and other stakeholders across the maritime and logistics ecosystem, carrying forward the family’s core principles while building capabilities suited to modern international trade.

While the nature of trade has changed significantly over the past 124 years, the principles that define the business remain consistent:

  • Integrity
  • Accountability
  • Commercial Understanding
  • Port and transportation dynamics
  • Trust Built Over Generations

NAVICON represents the continuation of that legacy — bringing the experience of the past together with the capabilities required for the future of global trade.
